HI all,
New information about Census 2011.
The government does a Census every few years, to find out how many people in Ireland, ages, jobs, income, religion, disability, etc.
Last Census was in 2006 but there was no question about Deaf ISL users.
The only question was about deaf AND blind, so the government doesn't know exactly how many Deaf people there are in the country. This makes it more difficult to plan services for Deaf people.
Can people stop posting bloody anti-Census comments on this video? For one thing, the video is an old one and is asking people to mention that they use Irish SIgn Language on their Census forms, so that the government can finally see how many people use it and hopefully then provide services accordingly. Secondly, the Census has already been done and thousands of Deaf people had pride in putting ISL on their form. No more half baked psycho libertarians from the UK with paranoia, please.
