I had this on vhs when I was a kid and thats how I learned to play basketball.
-
he may not be the greatest basketball player but in my book, he's definitely the classiest. A lot of today's so-called superstars could learn a lesson on humility from Dr. J.
-
I was in the video...the guy who did the reverse when jeffrey was like wwwhhhoooaaa....anyway, goes without saying Doc was the man. Much love to my fellow Piscean brother and the highlights that still replay in my head.

Dr.J gave bill walton the "dunkface"

Julius "Dr. J" Erving is my favorite basketball player of all time!!!
-
I love this. Very classy song and video, I can't help but think if this was done today it wouldn't be that great because it would likely be a hip hop tune or something, i like the silky smooth R and B for a guy that played just as smooth.

Love the Sixers(although they stink right now),but they'll be competitive soon enough.
Go team Go Squad Go 76ers!!!!!
-
Gotta LOVE Philly & the Sixers !!!

I swear I miss the 80s so much I wanna cry!

thanks 4 posting i am the guy with the red hat on that dunks the ball in slow motion can't believe that was 21 years ago in tustin playground in west philly the scene in the gym is my high school carrol h.s. we were selected by a alumni of carroll who worked for converse we shot that scene in jan 87 I remember it was below 0 I couldnt dunk it the way I wanted to because it was so cold. The great experience was to meet DrJ. it was a special tribute for him in his final year. thanks for posting.

That is amazing that you saw it. I never imagined when I posted it that someone who was in it would see it. We were hired by NBA entertainment to write the song and produce the video. Converse sponsored it (look at Docs shoes) We had to shovel off the basketball court so you guys could play.
I have some behind the scenes footage I will have to post someday.
