After some 35 years absence from the stage Bill Haley's original Comets re-formed and their debut show took place in the UK in 1989. Here, the trio of Marshall Lytle, Dick Richards and Joey Ambrose perform as the Jodimars, which was the group they formed after leaving the Comets in late 1955.

  • Nice to see me on Youtube. Rik, where did you get this clip? I was aware that Jason Pittham had videoed most of the show (at least until he was overcome by emotion). Have you got any more numbers from it?

  • Dave H. suppliied me with the tapes shot with Marshall's camcorder and also I think Joey's. Some songs are not complete, but I'll upload the best of them. Look out in the next installment for your introduction!

  • Frank Pingatore, right? I believe we met at the Philly show.

  • wish I was there saw them with my dad at the philly hall of fame awards!

  • I guess the Jodimars have nothin`to do with the Comets?!

  • So was I! I brought them over from the U.S....they had no idea what to expect!

  • I WAS AT THIS CONCERT........

  • Yes it was Ricky & Pete from the Stargazers.

This was the very first original Jodimars/Comets gig outside USA since the 50s/60s. On later tours as the Original Comets they also had original lead guitarist Fran Beecher and drummer Dick Richards played rather than "just" sang as at Brean.

I still have the Brean programme somewhere...

GREAT STUFF RIK, thanks a lot !!

  • nope - can't spot myself on this either, what a great weekender that was, Johnny Hale knew how to hold a party & a cider farm nearby too.

  • GREAT VIDEO , THANKS FOR POSTING

  • GREAT VIDEO , THANKS FOR POSTING

  • I remember my introdcution. Dick said "and now on piano........." and clearly couldn't remember who I was, and then "the man himself.....(frantic prompting from the band.....Chris Gardner"

    Happy days
