2004 - CARE, USAID and the Bangladesh government launched the SHOUHARDO program to reduce child malnutrition in Bangladesh's poorest communities. The program's success stunned researchers. In less than four years, child stunting within the program's target population dropped 28 percent. Data showed SHOUHARDO's single most effective intervention was women's empowerment. I find it very strange that no Bangladeshi was chosen to report on these these women and their children. I myself am I a Bangladeshi and I am not officially employed even though I have written on gender issues extensively on Facebook. But I see Americans are reporting on these issues depriving me of my rightful place in this country. What kind of "care" is this? Why should they ask people to donate to agencies that are managed by Americans mainly? How much of the money is left for Bangladesh?

A lot of intellectual theft happened through Brac University here in Dhaka. I have asked for an explanation but no one gave me any explanation. Why am I being used here as an American representative of Bangladesh? Why do I have to go around asking for people's charity while my ideas keep getting stolen through websites like these? What kind of unjust hypocrisy is this?
