Welcome to my review of the DX Kakuremaru! This is the final video for Kakuranger Month!

The Kakuremaru is a toy that I've always loved. The commercial for it is...perfect. It was a commercial that actually influenced me to buy the toy, which is rare! So how does the toy fare?

For starters, the Kakuremaru comes in a set. Included is a sheath and a pin-on badge. The badge is something that is normally included with weapon sets, so it is pretty standard. The sheath is pretty durable and nicely designed. It could do without the "NINJA SENTAI~KAKURANGER" written on it, but I guess it helps people realize that this is most likely a toy sword being held in the sheath. The Kakuremaru itself is pretty cool. It is decently proportioned, and includes a set of stickers for each of the Kakuranger.

It goes without saying that this is a light-and-sound toy. The "Shinobi" on the hilt lights up when the button is pressed. There are two different sounds that can be changed with the switch--the generic slash sound and the glorious Kakuremaru sound. The inclusion of the Kakuremaru sound really makes the toy complete IMO.

Later in the series the Hikarimaru [ヒカリマル] is introduced. Ninjared performs an attack called "Kakure ryu raimei kiri!" [隠流・雷鳴斬!] which involves a connection with his Kakuremaru. This can also be done with the DX toy versions.

I'd say this is one of my favorite weapon toys out there. Sure it is small, but so what. The blade is also quite brittle due to age. Oh, and it would be kind of different to remove the Kakuremaru from the sheath while it's on your back due to the safety latch [I'm guessing]. That doesn't matter to me, though. It's a toy of one of my favorite Super Sentai weapons out there. It would really have to suck for me to not like it. It meets the criteria for what it should be, but doesn't go beyond. This toy gets a definite thumbs up from me.

While the Kakuranger suits were used for Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers in the third season, Bandai America did not release a toy version of this for the Alien Rangers.
