my pigeons were under attack by 2 peregrine falcons just the other day, none of my birds got hit thank goodness i was hopeless not able to help them, the only thing i had to fall back on is that i hope my birds were fast enough to get away and they were, i have never seen my pigeons fly so fast ever. some flew really high, some dove into trees and bushes, and some went straight inside the loft.

My 'bird' friend Ron Lindsay and I studied this. Firstly, this is not an area known for Falcons. Ron reckoned a NZ Falcon would fly much faster and be much quicker to the kill. We pulled out a few frames and enlarged them and now pretty certain this is a Harrier Hawke. So I have changed Title and Captions (again).

I have been advised this is a NZ Falcon - not a Harrier Hawk as I first thought. I just didn't know they could be found this far down to the coast.

great video! love the chase. the hawk is clearly trying to single the weak ones out but it doesn't work.

@daboi2345 - RIght at the end a lone pigeon flys up behind the Hhawke and the hawke takes chase - I lost sight of them as they flew overhead and into some pine trees behind me. There was some nasty squaking and then... silence!
