Robot Competition 2010, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka

Fully autonomous robot has to pick up black/white cubes from a 2m encircled area, and find the exit T-junction on the periphery, and travel to the unloading area. There are two separate unloading areas for white and black cubes. In between the loading and unloading areas, robot has to find the shortest path using the cylindrical post as a navigation aid. There are four cubes to be transported within three minutes. And, this robot was able to accomplish the task and won the 3rd place.

Every year, University of Moratuwa hold a Robot Competition among the 2nd year engineering undergraduates in the three Departments; computer, electrical, and electronics. This year 2010, the competition was won by an electronics team. This robot was built by a team of computer science students.

Correct, There's a piece of flat metal atop the block. Robot has an electromagnet. Cant use permanent magnet as the block has to be dropped at the destination.

pretty simple robot i HAVE allready made something realy similar in Lego a few years back when i was 13 years old.

and 1 more dbt...how did the bot detect the black box?..white block can be detected witha an ir sensor..but hw did it detect the black one?

hey how did that lift that block??...is the block made of magnetic material...can any one tell how the bot lifted it???
