Hello everyone, as you all know the non-videoed crash of the gorilla corsair yielded damages of Biblical perportions. The ugliest of them all -- The 45 deg bend in the Prop shaft of the 480 Brushless Outrunner.
This How to will show you how easy it is to replace it. The entire repair took less then 30 minutes..
Items Needed:
1x 480 with bent shaft (lets hope you dont have one)
1x PKZ4418 480 outrunner motor shaft
1.5 mm Hex head driver (a good one, a couple screws are VERY tight)
242 thread locker
Pliers
(a kiss on the boo boo you might get when doing assembly)
Enjoy
Fly Safe

  • Hey Cool! A real guy... Like the video dude, tnx.

  • @tom98277 Thanks Bud, I hope it helped

  • Couple a things for ya..........

    Great site man learned alot

Try using a 3 liter coke bottle for a replacement cowl either end.....indestructable and readily availiable

I turned the servos thru the wing and flipped the control horns to the top..... no more stripped servo when "landing"

I am in awe of your Gorilla repair skills in just a few more flights I will have a beast to match the beauty of yours.........40% tooth picks and Gorilla glue

  • @ENSIGNELIMINATOR Hi En, I actually tried a spindle cover from a 50 pack blank DVD case.

I rebuilt it but have not put it in the air, black metallic paint job

I have aftermarket retractable gear BUUUT one side is a little wobbly (the unit not the install) so there is a wiggle when it taxi's so im a little paranoid about a perfect landing going to shyte with a wonky wheel :)

thanks for watching, I picked upa a DSM 2 receiver for my Supercub at Christmas.. I really should put that in HUH

  • Stripped one of the hex screws while doing this. Any ideas?

  • Thanks for the instructional video! Now I feel better about changing out my own outrunner motor shafts.

  • @RangerHenk HI Ranger. Another flyer asked me that at a field, His had a black threadlocker where mine was red,

try using a heated pin or Pick and see if there is a theradlocker filling the hole.

also you could email horizon hobby and they will have an answer for sure

    thanks for watching

  • thanks, only problem i have is that the two screws that hold the front piece of the motor are not in my version, so i can not get the axle to detach from the front motor part. very annoying, the holes are there but there is no hex head screws in there..

anyone else have that problem? of yeah the little washer ring on the back is also on mine
