Start by distributing the -5 and the 2 through on the left and right respectively.
-35 - 5x + 15 = x + 2x - 4
Then combine like terms
-20 - 5x = 3x - 4

What happens if the number cant divide?
So like what if was 3 = 25

Do you mean that there's no variable left? If that's the case, when we end up with something that's not true, like 3 = 25, then there is no solution. If you end up with something that is true, like 3 = 3, then it's an identity and all numbers will work.
