Judge Dredd is a 1995 action film directed by Danny Cannon, and starring Sylvester Stallone, Diane Lane, Rob Schneider, Armand Assante and Max von Sydow. The film is based on the Judge Dredd strip in the British comic 2000 AD. Certain elements of the film were altered from the comic series, but it still did not find wide mainstream appeal.

I liked the Stallone film, but even before I read a single issue of the comics, I was really dissapointed that we don't see much of him as a Judge. We see him in action for 5 minutes, then suddenly he's arrested and is the typical Stallone "man on the run" character. Still, the effects were great, and the plot was ok, if a little cheesy at times.

I will say I did think the new one was MUCH better: a simpler story that focused better on the characters and was beautiful to watch.
