I loved reading Butch's new book, especially about the Southgang years. They "wanted it" (success) just like so many 80s hairbands during that era. Obviously it didn't happen, so it was interesting reading later in the book how he was glad that they didn't "make it" because he wouldn't have had the opportunity to do what he did later in his career. Any lead singer of a former 80s hairband gets forever pigeonholed into that image, even if they want to branch out or try something new.

justin ... byte the bullet (southgang) was AWFUL ... always were always will be in my opinion ... they were part of one of the biggest bidding wars for bands off the strip ...so derivative of every shitty band (which was 99% of all the bands) playing the clubs then ... but they knew how to market themselves and obviously one of them was talented ...

a glaring and primary example of why metal got lost in the 90s ... hair bands that were shit and more concerned about makeup than songs ...

I've always loved Butch Walker and you can definitely hear his influence on that Fall Out Boy song! He produced the entire album so I'm really interested to hear the rest.
