***UPDATE*** Many of you PM me and are concerned with how fast your horse can learn this. guys, that is not the point. Your horse will learn it as fast as he/she can depending on their abilities and your abilities to teach it. As for switching to the saddle, make sure your horse is stepping off of voice regularly and then add the whip from the saddle. Then you can add a rein or weight command to ask for specific legs. but the most important thing is to TAKE IT SLOW!!! If you push it you may scare, confuse or frustrate your horse!!! ***

You guys asked for it, here you go! (btw I am not a good impromptu speaker so I apologize for the stuttering... )
This is how i introduce the spanish walk on the ground. eventually you will train them with the voice command STEP only and transfer it into the saddle.
This video Stars my friend Kirsten Annett and her horse Scooter, an off the track tb.
Have fun guys! reply with your videos when you give it a try!
Remember though to be careful, don't push your horse, and take your time, especially if you have very little experience with non-traditional training.
And remember, I'm not responsible for accidents or injuries :) We all have crazy ponies!!
HAVE FUN!
PS. If you have anything else you'd like to learn feel free to ask, but I wont teach rearing. It's too dangerous and shouldnt be taught to any horse unless you are 160% positive you will never sell the horse, as most people do not appreciate a rearing horse.

  • Nice job ladies....just note: It is best to stroke/rub a horse rather than patting it.....slapping a horse is actually a sign of aggression.....something John Lyons teaches.

  • @4Marnie HAHAHAHA ok, tell that to my horse after we finish a jumper round. They know the difference if you treat them right. My horse knows "good boy" and treats and pats are all rewards. His ears come up and he arches his neck proudly. Find something else to complain about, seriously, they way we pet is wrong? gimmie a break

  • @gryphonkeen I am sorry you took it so personal......like I said...Nice job ladies.....I taught my colt to spanish walk in 20 mins.....Jackie Johnson has a wonderful book that transfers your ground ques to rein ques.....so that your spanish walk will be very simple from the saddle....her methods resulted in my colt responding to the 'march' command with very little effort.....good luck with your trick training......try not to take things so personal......we can never learn tooo much!

  • @4Marnie Well You'd be surprised how many criticisms I get from ignorant people particularly people without videos of their own. I just transfer it with voice commands and adding reins. I get sick of 'know it alls' telling me how to train my horses. Thank you for the compliment.

  • You would be an excellent dog trainer.

  • @evedog13 No, that's my sister, Shes a dog trainer. I do better with the Herbivores :D

  • @gryphonkeen if you know how to do it why are you watching a how to video. this obviously worked well for teaching the horse how to do it so why tamper with the tried and true. this is for 4Marnie

  • Thank you so much the horse i am teaching to do this to is to the stomping on the ground really well but what do you do after that? i can't get him to step and left his leg up can you plz help me :)

  • Can't wait to teach this to my horse! I'll try to video tape it and put it in a response to this video so you could maybe give me some tips. C: Great job with Scooter!

  • What kind of treats do you give? :D

  • @brattycowgirl51 It looks like the ladies had a regular halter on him and were actually using a training halter to teach him, they just didn't want to take the regular one off. I do the same when I bridle, I leave the halter on underneath. Mostly for safety precautions for myself.

  • y do you have 2 halters on him the standerd and then a rope is hard to control or something?

  • thankyou so much for this video! my horse is now almost there! i've taken it slow but he's doing real well! thankyou so much (:

  • why did he get off the track

  • Subbscribed (: im going to attempt to teach my 8yro cobthis hopefuly he'll get the idea, he'll do anything for food ;] could you possibly upload a video of his progress soon? would love to see how good he is at it now =] x

  • my pony is really sensitive with her feet and picks them up if you look like you are going to touch them so I was thinking maybe it would be pretty easy to teach her this...it is because of this she learned very quickly how to wave, shake hands, and point
