For 8 weeks, the girl was held captive at the Enclosed Quarters. The first 8 days she was not allowed to leave the bed, locked up, with only a pan to pee and poo in. The first 11 days she had her period. The first 14 days she did not take a bath, or a sponge bath. The first 35 days she didn't wash or comb her hair. She lived with knotted-up hair, bloodstain sheets, and urine spills, but that was the gig she was in now. She reeked in her own smell, but she didn't mind or even notice most of the time. Her hair was forming a dreadlock look, but she didn't care, she liked the new look. The drugs and the pain overwhelm any normality. Soon unwanted dark weeds and grass like creatures grew out of her skin. And her legs, armpits, and coochie hairs began their forest, but again, she didn't mind. She was living free. No worries to worry about anymore. She was high on drugs and the occasional red wine did the trick. She was sponging off the Enclosed Quarters. She knew as long as she stayed there, that she didn't have to feed herself and find shelter. She also got a weekly check for not working. The girl had it made.
Falling off the ladder was the best thing for her. Sure, a few bones broken, but it was well worth a long vacation of relaxation and stress-free. Sure, she lived in a prison, and couldn't walk and had to learn how to walk again, like a baby taking its first few steps, but that was fine with her. She had to miss a few outings with her friends, but at least she could drift off into the insane world where she had become accustomed. She liked hanging out with Smokin' Joe, a ghost, a rooster, and a couple of cats screwing.
She got stronger and was released from the Enclosed Quarters after 2 months of healing there. She spent another 3 months away from the ladder, loving life, enjoying freedom.
But then she got a phone call from the ladder. She was to report to the ladder on May 4, 2009. Gutterpunk girl gone...for now.
