I and others have heard these pirates at the bottom end of the 40m Amateur band (CW section) on 7MHZ LSB doing this on a regular basis.
It's as though they're trying to see who can be heard as they repeat their special word over each other for a short time. The adjudicator comes on channel, announces the winner, and then another round takes place. This goes on for hours. What I guess to be "Roti" & "Rambo" seemed to be the loudest to me.
This was recorded from Victoria, Australia - local time ~1am on the 19 Feb 2011. (note: my rx needs a tune-up an is slightly off frequency)
Anyone got any ideas what they're up to?

Sounds like in the final round, the judge had narrowed it down to a shootout between just "Roti" and "Rambo". Pretty fun stuff!

"Goling! Goling! Goling!" They sound like quite the quartet there, that's amazing, I'd really like to know where these guys are, I hear them quit regularly.

Seems to be some weird kind of "sport"... I wonder where those pirates are located, maybe South America?
