I believe we are to strive to be obedient, but we still contend with the flesh; I agree with you - it's not an excuse for disobedience, but we will have times we fail. It's what 1stJohn1:8-10 is for. Peace -

Yes I do, ONLY by growing in Grace and trusting in Him continuously. Only this is part of the problem, the fact that we are fallen and tend NOT to always trust in Him continuously and at every moment, especially in times of temptation or when we are at our weakest. I say this as an observation though, not as an excuse to just not obey by His divine strength. However, He gives us many victories over sin which is trangression of His law.

sleanos, do you believe we can keep the law perfectly?

acutually the Covenant with Abraham was also Ratified with the blood of the foreskin:WordNet -ratified adjective
formally approved and invested with legal authority.Genesis 17:10
This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
Genesis 17:11
And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
Key point here being a token of the covenant !

Didn't mean to be critical. It's just that its important to always use tact when sharing spiritual things with others. Christ's words were always winsome to his audience. Saying "My Bible" gives others the implication that they are reading something perhaps foreign to the sacred pronouncements.
Correction need not be taken as a bad thing.
I welcome criticism, as long as it's done in the right way---without name calling, or an uncool spirit. If I say something out of line, let me know.

Really, people need to stop being SOOO critical of one another. I said "My Bible" to mean as the Word of God on which I base my faith on, not that I was referencing any "particular" translation.
-
Becareful that you don't call it "My Bible"
True, there are many translations. But they are basically the same. All scripture is inspired by God. Yet I agree with you on the matter of God providing us with what we need to obey him, and that is HIS inspired word which tells us how.
Amen. We are to strive and we can overcome as God asks us to ONLY by trusting in divine strength of Jesus and not in or of ourselves. As a Seventh-day Adventist this is what we believe and you and I see eye to eye as well with Holy Scripture.

thrufaithalone - Do you believe 1) Christians are to obey God's law by the Grace of God and 2) That it is possible for us and 3) That we can obey Him perfectly.
