There is a spring that sometimes fall out or get bent when the battery is replaced on most if not all G-shocks (I don't have the G-2000 yet, it's on its way!). This spring should contact the metal caseback for sound to work. Check out the watchuseek g-shock forum for additonal help. Good luck!
