Going through some old Super 8 film reels in one of our trunks, I came across some footage from a few very early trips to Disneyland. I transferred the film to digital and cut in all the clips I could find of the Disneyland Railroad. I'm still adjusting the speed on some of them, since they were filmed at different speeds on different days. I'm also adjusting the color, which is tends to shift towards the yellow on old movies.

In reality, all this is was a test of a combination of filters for when I document my Nature's Wonderland model in a year. All the clips shown were actually recorded within the timeframe of 07-08

  • I fell for it! What filters did you use?

  • You know, I don't remember. It was a lot of them too all combined, the basic iMovie filters.

  • Nice try. Next time don't get the wheelchair ramp in the shot towards the beginning part of the "vintage" film clips. The wheelchair ramps didn't go in until late 1990's/early 2000's

  • That and the locomotive paint schemes were different too back then. You can't really have everything. None of these clips were shot with the intention of being filtered to look old, so I didn't take any consideration of cropping out stuff that wasn't supposed to be there.

  • This is really neat, but there is one dead giveaway: the ADA ramp. Nice effects!

  • SORRY DIDNT SEE THE END SORRY LOL

  • FAILURE NOT REAL "VINTAGE" CLIPS LOOK AT THE PAINT THEY WHERE MUCH MORE PRETTY BACK IN THE DAY FAIL

  • Very cool, thank you for sharing!

  • Disneyland Railroad

  • I almost bought it until I realized the problem with the trees.

When they made Disneyland, they mistakenly buldozed nearly all of the trees. So they had to buy young saplings from plant nurseries. Back then the trees were tiny! 55 years later, they are huge! Just like in your vid. ;)

  • great

  • But cool vintage looking film though. Good job. Ever considered putting together a great overview of all four of the Disneyland trains with them arriving and leaving the various stations and a shot of them on the trestle in Critter Country or along the Rivers of America from the Mark Twain, etc? That would be pretty cool
