  • programming question : i am already taking classes this semester(Python) and my previous language was C++ ...... i did not understand a lot of things in C++ and i am not doing well in Python either although its very easy ... what are the steps that i should do to become a good programmer : for example understanding concepts which i dont think i do, or is it just practice(which i do) plz hlp :( i am not getting much better and can only do mostly those already shown in textbook examples

  • My advice is to do projects on your own, and use the internet and whatever documentation you can find to learn the language. Learn how to code a small video-game in python, write an app for manipulating images or web-pages, etc. etc. Just start with something small, and learn the steps you have to take to get that done. From there, you can build up to bigger things. Make sure you REALLY understand each concept before you move on to the next one.

  • By the way, Python is a very neat language that should be helpful in learning basic programming habits. Since python is an interpreted language, it gives you a ton of power with just a few simple commands. If you don't understand what a program does, step through it in your head, or on paper. Write down what the variables are -- how they change -- and how they get evaluated to analyze what goes on in the code.

  • JCreator sucks. you went to college i went striaght to corporate and learned from SUN. SCJP =]

  • JCreator does suck, that's why I use Eclipse now.

  • is the programmes free or are they only trial versions

  • what if it say The system couldn't find a suitable main method when i click run ?

  • this is too much.... and too much hard for me :'(...

    But i won't give up !!

cuz i will soon enter Smart programmer high school ;) so i wanna learn something before i join... I WILL NEVER GIVE UP OF THIS CUZ IT'S AWESOME!

  • i took a computer programming class in HS ....... the hardest crap in the world. there is no rhyme or reason for this. why create a sentence out of code when i can type "hello world " right here!!!! thank god i just skipped that class.

  • Why not teach with c

  • So what about C

  • funny

  • Yes I will take an extra large cheese pizza with wings and a 2 liter of Coke.

  • @ Theotherguy1989: I appreciate the help, thanks for the tips, I am slowly getting better and Python is good for getting some programming habits and much more fun to use then C /C++.

@SlayerRules66 : thank you for inspiring and useful input, that wasted no ones time and you should give pep-talk rallies to the masses.

  • If you failing in Python and you want to be a programmer I would suggest perhaps delivering pizza's because Python unlike VB supports multiple browsers VB limits you to just IE. One thing "Theotherguy" did not point out which is very important in setting up the JC software is your "CLASS PATH" Variables if those are not set up right you can not compile in DOS which in my opinion is much easier than with JCreator which at times can lock up or just not work at all.
