Compaq Computer Corporation showed off a new under 500 dollar internet access PC geared for the business market.

The new computer, possibly inspired by the success of Apple Computers iMac is called the iPaq.

Like the iMac the iPac is color ditching business beige for a more stylish silver and black.

Scheduled for sale in the first half of 2000, iPaq is small weighing in at about 10 pounds, the new computer 60 percent smaller than a conventional Compaq PC.

Unlike the iMac - Compaq says its iPac will feature Intels Pentium III and be equipped with Microsoft Windows 2000.

Just before market close, Compaq was up about 5% at 21 ¾.
