I understand what you are saying-and it is true-you can't beat Buddy, but what I haven't mentioned before,is that I am a musician myself and made what I thought was a good arrangement of this song,as a slow bluesy version. It always seemed to go down well when I performed it;and some of my fellow musicians have performed my version

@9641roger but who could top buddy holly? especially on this song...maybe he just wants to live up to buddy

How dare you tell me to keep my mouth shut.I am NOT a grumpy old man-but a very happy one who enjoys helping people. The point I was making, which seems you do not seem to understand,is that,as good a singer as Patrick Stump undoubtably is,I question that it would have been better to do something original with the song,as many others on the album have done, rather than take the soft option and just copy it
-
@9641roger because some people would like to honor him and this seems about the closest way anyone could, stop being a grumpy old man or keep your mouth shut

I was actually worried when hearing this, as I am not a Fallout Boy fan in the slightest. Patrick definitely did a great job, though. Kudos.

I agree with @9641roger. A cover isn't about imitation. It's about tribute and giving a song your own style. That way, it shows the artist's personality and you aren't listening to the same exact version of the song.

wow , i can actually understand what he's saying now.

omggg everyone shut it and enjoy the brilliant music coming through your speakers!!! :DDDDD buddy holly did an amazing job on this song, and so did patrick... get over it. no ones trying to take anyones place in the "whose better competition" some of you are making up! ... just enjoy and shuddup :PPP

why people can't undestand that COVERS are for making tribute is not like look I'm better than the guy who used to sing this
People stop saying, "You can't beat Buddy Holly." Because, at the end of the day, you can not beat Patrick Stump either.

Why don't people get the idea of different people covering Buddy's songs? I am now 70 years old and have been a fan of his since the start and was lucky enough to see him on his only tour of UK;his voice and style was, and still is,unique. So what is the point of trying to imitate him?
