  • can you make goats milk soap with spoiled goats milk?

  • @tgSoapertg - you could use sour milk, and technically you would get soap at the end of the process. But there's a good chance that it will carry over a funk odor.

  • Is that a granite stock pot

  • @jadacoversonful

Never heard of a granite stock pot. That is a baked enamel finish. Stainless is preferred, but that pot was cheap.

  • I used to freeze the goats milk to a slushy consistency, but found that it's much easier to do it in an ice water bath. You can mix the lye in faster with it being completely liquid and not burn it as long as you remember to stir. Salt makes the bar harden faster and sugar makes it lather better, Normally I don't use salt in a goats milk bar because they harden up pretty well anyways, but this was for an order that had to go out in the next day or so.

  • Where to you get your hard oils from?! The containers they come in seem so easy to store and work with.

  • @Stinkydancersoaps Thanks! Yeah, I always wear eye protection start to finish, but very rarely do I put gloves on. I want to know right away that I've gotten lye on my hands rather than when I absent-mindedly rub my face. If you know right away, it's not a huge deal to handle. I always keep a spray bottle with distilled white vinegar next to wherever the lye mixture is.

  • @rorysmom3

I've never noticed a substantial difference between using the regular vs extra virgin. Also, olive oil is expensive. Even though we buy ours in 50 lb buckets, that would add considerably to the cost.

  • Is there a reason you used regular olive oil vs extra virgin?

  • LOL- I love your site- your tagline is awesome!!

I thought I was the only one who never wore gloves- I always forget them. 15 years and haven't been burned yet.

Anyway- great video- I'm not sure how I ended up here- I goggled coloring goat milk soap but hey I watched anyway. :)

  • Shouldn't you be wearing gloves when handling lye?

  • What happened to the sound??? The video started out well, and then you sound like you are whispering.

  • Awesome video..TTTYYYYYYYYY for posting - Sherry
