I agree the excessive chatting is obnoxious. At any concertt ive been at its cheering not gibberish this concerts audience sounds like a food court.

@venturedance i think it really just depends on the individuals that happen to be at a particular show. i play a weekly gig in californa, and i've observed that even with your regulars, the behavior of the crowd can be completely different from one night to the next.

@jimo2006 Yeah, I agree, but songs like Cameo Lover have a pop-sounding twist. If anything, I meant to say she is the evolution of what will be popular (not necessarily pop, or sell-out, sounding music). "Settle Down," is just--the next generation of wonderful music to come. I'm so happy Kimbra was born and I by chance found her wonderful music so I can indulge like those in Australia and New Zealand get to.

@kman5473 I agree with you on about 99% and a huge fan of hers as well. But I''m just saying..that aint pop!!!! Its almost insulting to put her in that category.

What a shit crowd!
-
I like how she recognized the fact that the audience was not really paying attention to her she thought "f it, I'll shut them all up." and by golly, she did.
There is nothing sexier and more beautiful than an ambitious and successful lady. Props to the future queen of pop (ps, she needs to break into the American music scene!)

Fuckin' hell. She just owned that crowd like nothing before.
-
I pay good money for a ticket so I can talk above the singing of one of the best artists of my generation!

are you all forgetting this is a live concert? how many have you been to where everybody has been silent? have none of you ever spoken at a concert? Jeeeeeeeeeeez
Ok so I did more digging. Just want to take the comment back. Shes got some chops. I think she just had a shitty sound tech.

@JuicinaPeach Sound tech was brilliant (well. As good as one can be at a festival), it's my recording which does not do her justice (:

This is what people do in Australia during a concert - they talk. It sucks. I had never experienced this to this degree where I'm from. We appreciate music in Tennessee.

@venturedance It's pretty shit. What's it like at the back of a crowd at a festival in Tennesee, though? Same sort of chatting?

I can see that I've offended some people with my stereotyping of Sydneysiders as unable to appreciate music. Obviously this is not true. But I have to say that I've had a very different experience with live music since I moved here five years ago. I just come from a very musical part of America where people really listen to, appreciate and support live music. I know there are plenty of people here who are like that as well.

@venturedance lolol, you're on the internet. Can't say much without offending (:
And you're not alone on your stereotyping, quite frankly, I agree somewhat.
However, I was way at the back of a festival crowd - while disappointing for them to chatting so damn much, not entirely unexpected.
The next evening, Regina Spektor played - you could hear the other stages, it was so quiet. It really depends haha! (:
