  • @Actraide, the councils take the piss and so do the government. I remember when i was a child the class rooms held around 12 or 15 max. Why do you think the government has build larger schools? It`s to take away many teacher jobs to save money. A larger class means less 1-1 with each pupil than the old days. And most teachers don`t finish at the close time as we all believe. Pensions also, they have been fighting for that. Along with that, they fight for your childrens welfare.

  • @Actraide, they dont get paid for the out of class work. 2- Parents evening, the teachers are contracted to 24 parents per evening, but since there are 30 kids, thats alot more time. The council, do they buy all the pencils etc for the class rooms? no the teacher pays for it out their own pocket as the council allows them enough money that even in a 3rd world country would not be enough. I use to think teachers had an easy life myself, but true fact is, i know how wrong i was.

  • @ Actraide, Not being a teacher but knowing people who are, i will let you have an insight. 1-Most people think a teacher starts at around 9, wrong start around 8:35, Class sizes, remember the size the class rooms would hold when we were kids. in later years it had shot to 24, and yet again they have shot to 30. You imagine how much home work they need to check, correct etc when they go home.

  • @personalchefscotland Umm how do you come to the conclusion that "there is so much more after school hours for you all to do"? Teachers get paid for EVERY hour they work - if they didn’t we soon enough here about by more strikes! Anything happening in a teachers life after schools hours is voluntary! My old union us to clamp done on us in Royal Mail for people starting work 10 min early in the morning so they could do a thorough job in their time pressed day!

  • @personalchefscotland Well said

  • Those who worked on this day should be applauded! Theft has taken place by unions who called members on strike! We paid our council tax and you didn't work therfore theft has taken place¬

  • All you teachers, deserve what you are fighting for. A teachers job does not finish when the kids leave school, there is so much more after school hours for you all to do. Maybe Cleg And Cam should cut their own money. Teachers are the corner stone of every kids future. Larger Class rooms, with more pupils, longer hours, and less pension. What next? Robot teachers to avoid paying what they deserve. The whole of Glasgow who was there supported you. Whoever worked this day, shame on you.
