Insurance corporations (who will be hurt most by any reforms) have nothing whatsoever to do with medical research. Medical research is almost exclusively conducted in universities and financed by government grants. Even the bulk of pharma research is done on the public dime in universities.

As far as I know there has never been an insurance company in America that has ever denied someone treatment for anything.

Insurance companies can not legally keep you from getting treatment.

They can only tell you if the policy you have covers payment for the treatment.

Lasik eye surgery is a good example. Most insurance companies don't pay for the procedure, yet somehow there are hundreds of these done every day.

Obama wants to tell me IF it's legal for me to get treatment.
