MAGGIE TEYTE SINGS "SWEET MISTRESS PRUE", ONE OF FOUR ENGLISH RECORDINGS SHE MADE FOR DECCA LABEL IN LONDON 1932. SHE HAD APPEARED IN "MUSICAL PLAYS", AS SHE CALLED THEM, SIMPLY TO MAKE MONEY, LATER DURING THE WAR SHE JOINED ENSA AND SANG FOR THE TROOPS, EVEN DRIVING AN AMBULANCE!!!!
A BEAUTIFUL SONG FROM A GREAT VOICE FROM THE PAST.
ENJOY!!!!
Teyte has been one of my favorite singers going back to the late 40's when she sang quite frequently on the Bell Telehone Hour--pre TV.. Extraoirdinary technique that kept the voice steady and even. I suppose that one either likes it or not--I could never comprehend anyone who can sucumb to her artistry, especially the Ravel and Debussy songs, I would love to have seen her live.

It's like opening up an old trunk and finding jewels.
