As a first timer it is great to see in advance what I can expect of a squash seedling and when it is best to put it out. Thanks for that and about how not to lose them.

Back again Claire. It is finally that time of the year for me to sow seeds and plants for Spring. I forgot about the stick so I am so pleased to come back and check. Everything going in this week.

I start mine off in the greenhouse in half toilet rolls, and when all sign of frost has past I plant them outside, I just let them trail over the ground. That way they slow down weeds growing through. If however, you are worried about rabbits and mice or have limited space them build a frame for them to grow up. Old fence trellis works very well.

They are to retain the water in the soil.
