@lonbordin Not really, the same basic factors apply - fast in a straight line, but blow a tack and there's a mile given to the competition. Slow, quick turning boats are best for match racing, that puts it down to tactics and boathandling rather than speed.
thanks for ruining the Americas Cup ......Alinghi deserved what they got after the nonsense of the last few years but match racing in multi hulls is just not the same. Why mess with a formula that works (monohull)? Arrogant men with ego that outstrip their sense of fair play......
Perhaps the most over hyped yet ultimately boring tactical racing ever. Uber rich corporate boys taking a once intriguing event and turning it into a model of corporate activity. For me, about as much fun as watching an overweight lawyer try to squeeze into his "ultimate driving machine" to get to work. Two radically boring starts. Like watching to oversized hobie 16"s, they turn like dogs.

Kostecki called a perfect lay-line on the first reach.

Equating either of these boats to Hobie 16s demonstrate your lack of sailing knowledge.

Maybe hitting the marks isn't as pretty, but on open water it sure is fun!

6:05 on until the top mark is exactly why multihulls are the wrong boats to match race in...

Not the most exciting racing, but different.
