Magnetic Video Corporation was the first company to put out pre-recorded videotapes of major-studio movies, starting in 1978. They were soon purchased by 20th Century Fox and kept the name until 1982. They started producing laserdiscs in 1981 which included the primitive intro seen on their VHS and Beta releases. An announcer would say which company they had licensed the movie from- this one is from Viacom Enterprises (from "Blue Hawaii") when they were a much smaller company than they are now.

  • I wish SOMEONE had a clean copy of the Magnetic theme

  • That logo I remember was from "Paradise Hawaiian Style" with Elvis Presley, but on the hand, the announcer says "Viacom International".

But at the end of "Paradise Hawaiian Style", instead of the Paramount end title, it has the "V of Doom" shown and it will scare everyone to death after the film ends. It was done in Film-O-Vision. That plastered the Paramount end title with this creepy logo.

  • I've always loved that music!

  • Can you upload the Viacom logo at the end of the movie please

  • How much you willing to bet that the guy doing the Magnetic Video voice-over is none other than Andre Blay himself?

  • Ahhh...this song takes me back. As a kid, I used to think the voice was a little creepy. I remember this most vividly from their release of "Black Emanuelle."

  • wait... what has viacom made again?

  • Sumner Redstone didn't buy Viacom until 1986, this was the early 1980's.

  • I happen to love this logo....it's amusing.

  • Not all of it. They only had many of the titles originally from Paramount (which Viacom would buy in 1994).

  • looks like this guy gave Sumner Redstone an idea...
