  • If Honda had bought BL It would still be here.

  • we go through 2 world wars with germany, only to hear that BMW may give Triumph a renaissance? how humble and darn right embarrasing is that? sadly we are an almost totally bankrupt nation now which is no longer financially capable of supporting major industry, that's the reason everyone

is now paying almost 65% of their earnings

    in direct or indirect taxation.

  • My sister nearly bought a W reg 1981 Acclaim back in 1989. For some reason she went for the mark 3 Escort 1.3 instead. I bet that the Acclaim would have been a much better car.

  • My first car was an Acclaim. I don't really think it was a Triumph and would have been better badged as a Honda.

They were great cars for the day and I don't know one person who owned one who disliked it.

  • New a cat called Nova, perhaps new new her too especially her butt

  • Doggidoo prob driven a Nova or something equally gay

  • I admire people who think an acclaim is a crock of shit, considering they probably had a mini metro which was certainly a crock of shit......like the driver

  • You gotta admire the marketing department for making what was a crock of shit look like - well a crock of shit really. But got silly people to buy them. Arses

  • the engine on the 1981-1984 Triumph Acclaim

    Engine

    1335 cc Straight-4

  • @NCW250 Yes, i agree with you there....they kept MINI, after discarding Rover, but back to the Acclaim, they were a good small saloon offering reliability which until then with BL was variable, the Dolomite was still a good car, quite solid and well finished, but getting old, the Acclaim was a rebadged Honda, but it was reliable, and comfortable, and sold very well due to that, when i worked in that garage, we sold a lot.....the right car at the right time.

  • @GRAHAM5020 my mother in law had an automatic one, she loved it until some twit smashed into it. You use to see them all over the place about 10 or more years ago, I do think they were underrated compared to other Triumphs. I think Austin Rover should have teamed up with Honda rather than BMW, who seem to have a knack of killing off rival makes. Borgsward is one the makes that springs to mind. The rest is history.

  • @AshtrayI I didn't know Elvis Presley built cars. What is a Sinder, does it catch on fire? You missed Humber, Hillman and Sunbeam.
