yc's have got to mature but at least i know how the washing machine works and how to cook a meal for a family at the yc festival there was a yc from new Zealand and there has been a doc on channel four about yc's, we help our parents because we have to but i think that even if we didnt have to i think we still would because its human nature to help others.

Im kiwi 17 yrs old and a young carer! I care for my dad who suffers from Schizophrenia for about a yr and a half. YC's do have to grow up quickly as we become the adult in the family. Im doing my A Levels which is hard work ontop of my caring role i lost alot of my education when he was 1st ill by falling asleep in lessons, it also affected my behaviour I was put incontact with my local yc group the group meets fortnightly and in the holidays

This is a great vid as it raises a lot of points. Children are children and those adopting caring roles miss out on childhood and education. At the end of the day they are minors yet taking adult responsibilities. The government really need to recognise this more socially and financially. A word should be dropped to BBC and ITV (tonight programme) to feature more documentaries on this. Nice one Knothy
