hey i would like to know how hard it is to put another engine in this i have an 82 4dr with some x-11 goodies but still have a 2.8. v6 i mean i want to make a good running car but dont want to spend a fortune on custom made parts and alot of fabrication
-
Really cool!! just watch out for that torque steer. keep on rockin dude!!
-
the s-10 blazer frame is no good. it folds like tin foil in a crash the citation frame is stronger believe it or not i rebuild vehicles for a living stay away from the s-10 blazer frame. the motor and tranny can be worked into the citation with not much fuss since the 2.8 is in the citation normally i do custom rear ends for that kinda thing but a chevette rear end will fit realy good or a monza rear end
-
yeah.. I also hear its easier to just drop the citation body on an s-10/blazer frame and go that way. It would cut out all the work needed for building a frame up on the citation anyway. The only thing youd lose is the sport suspension if you used an X-11 that is. Im eventually gonna do something along that line

the 2.8 eurosport fuel inject version was a good motor to play with too and u can mess around with rwd with the 2.8 since the the s-10 pickup had a 2.8 and was rwd so the tranny in that would probably fit the s-10 had a carb version i beleive and later on it was replaced with a the 4.3 but the 2.8 was a good motor.

Yeah I know what you mean about RWD's being more fun >:) lol I have no problem rewiring a car.. its what I did with the car in this video.. I rewired the car from the tail lights to the headlights and everything in between. Had to change the dash and gauge cluster.. I was just going to wire it into the citation wiring like I did with the 3.1 but the X-11 was setup for a carbed 2.8 and manual tranny. So rewired it for the updated FI setup and auto tranny. Many reasons for swapping to auto

you cant use any of the citations old wiring i always chop that all ou.t the entire wire harness and evreything including the fuse box its all changed. if the newer engine is obd-II i will make it obd2 mixing old with new always has issues. a series 3 supercharged from a buick park avenue or one of those models will fit... even a 3.4 from rand prix will fit great. but RWD conversions are more fun even for drifting and donuts and shit.
-
A series 3 SC engine would kick ass but can that even be done? I heard that the OBD-II creates a problem when trying to wiring into the citation wiring. Where as the SC2 engine can still be run off the S1 wiring/computer and remain within the "do-able" OBD-I margin..as far as I know thats how it is, I could be wrong
I'd love to convert one of these to RWD, drop either a 4.3 vortec or 350 in it. Think that ones a ways away tho. I am very good under the hood but I have my limits.. for now
-
keep in mind a supercharged series III 3.8 can fit good the citation has a nice area to mess around with under the hood. i even seen 4.3 v6's put in them and converted to RWD with a chevette rear end. custome rear ends can be done too i do motor swaps constantly at my collision shop when im not workin. u name it i probably have swapped it..lol
-
Thanks :) It was fun getting this one up and running.. but ya always hit hiccups when ya do these type of swaps :P Yeah the 3.1's definetly liven these cars up.. my 82 4door citation has a 3.1mpfi in it out of a 90 pontiac 6000LE. but it doesnt have the pulling power especially at HW speeds like the 3800 does ;) Im eventually going to upgrade the 3.1 to a 3800sc1 engine, then the 84 X-11 will get a 3800sc2 engine. If I can get my greedy hands on more of them tho.. I have other plans in mind :)
-
nice man a 3.8 in a x-11 i always wanted to do that to a citation i have done a swap to a friends 85 citation with a eurosport 3.1
-
What are you planning on doing? Also is it a citation your doing it to? because yes I did have to change engine mounts and brackets to make it work and I can attempt to help ya depending on what your doing
-
I'm debating doing something similar I was wondering, did you have to change the engine mounts?
-
lol nah, the 2.8mpfi, 3.1 mpfi, 3300 and 3800 all had loud injectors.. there are 3300 injectors in my 3800 engine which were a tad bit louder than the stock 3800's.. so yeah
-
i didnt know that was injector ticking, I thought my engine(3300) had defect. lol
-
Engine was removed from a 92 Buick Regal GS but running on a 91 ciera 3300v6 electrical setup
-
is that a buick v6 3.8 out of a commie?
Nice conversion!
How much does a Citation X-11 weigh?
What the HP ratings on a original 2.8 -vs- 3.8?

Thanks for the comment! :D I am not sure on the weight exactly but I know its light compared to most cars.. and horse power difference is 2.8 = 115hp, 2.8 High output = 135hp and the 3800 = 170-180hp but its the torque that makes the 3800..220
