Democrat NY State Senator Liz Kruger, never at a loss for words, says she and her fellow Democrats are under orders to keep quiet about the indictment of her colleague, Sen. Hiram Monserrate, for the alleged slashing attack on his girlfriend.
Monserrate was indicted Monday, 3/23/2009, on three felony counts, making him the first sitting state Senator in NY history to be charged with a violent crime while in office.
His fellow Democrats decided to back him, though, and won't seek his removal from office, or say much about the case, as Kruger demonstrates.
Emerging from a closed door caucus at the Capitol in Albany on the case, Kruger and every other Democrat Senator refused to talk about the case, and she says, "I was asked to say no comment."
She refused to say who instructed her to take that position.
Hmm..who knows? Maybe his constituents like violent slashers and wouldn't want him kicked out of Senate right away. lol
