Excellent video. My daughter has nearly the same story. She was born with Ebstein's and had her surgery at 15. She also had the Cone procedure done at Children's in Boston. Her doctors were Drs, Marx and del Nido as well. One difference is that she had to have a second surgery (a bi-directional glenn) done four days later because her heart had become so enlarged and was not improving well enough after the first. But she came through like a trooper as you did. Thanks for the video.

Thank you so much for this insight into your surgery with Dr. Del Nido. My daughter will be having this surgery soon for her Ebstein's at Boston and your experience has calmed me a bit. God Bless you! Keep trekking!

im sooooooooooooooo scared
Hey Vanessa =] I'm a 15 nearly 16 year old guy from Australia and i am going in for open heart surgery [not the cone procedure but to have my aortic valve replaced] in around a month, i was never worried about the surgery as i have had plenty of it although my main concerns were the breathing and chest/drainage tubes and you really helped me get over that fear! now when the are pulling them out i will be thinking its just like pulling spaghetti out of your mouth! glad all went & wish you well =]

I'm really scared because i'm having an open heart surgery in like 5 days. Did you feel anything during surgery? did it hurt after surgery?

Hey! i was putout during surgery and so i didn't feel anything!!! :) the toughest part comes after the surgery and thats the 1st 3 days u wake up. When i mean tough i mean like u will not be eating, a little out of it, and mainly hav posible stomach or head aches. the actual scar never hurts and u wont hav pain, just naousea. u will find waiting is the worst part, not the surgery! PLZ PLZ message me with ALL ur questions, i have tons more tips i can give u and help make u feel better ASAP!!!

@loveya1236 I wish you the best of luck on your surgery! And I totally understand hating to wait, that was probably the worst part of the surgery. The best advice I can give you is to take each day slowly. The worst days will be the 3 days after the surgery, then it’s only a matter of healing the bone and scar. Any questions plz feel free 2 ask, any at all, I know exactly how you feel and I want you to have all you questions answered! Everything will turn out just fine, you’ll see!
