This is so disturbing. I was a Calvary Chapel member (Boston) and about a year ago I moved to Philadelphia. I emailed the Philly CC with concerns about its relationship with Rick Warren and I received a response that Calvary Chapel had nothing to do with him. Now I find this. I had heard about it but I had never seen it with my own eyes so I was doubtful as to its truthfulness. I'm not doubtful anymore. It's so sad.

It is sad, especially since this is 3 yrs old now. You can view my posts, check out CC page, on my blog, but this was the tip of the iceberg. It only revealed what many had already suspected for yrs. Greg Laurie has had a long relationship with RW, and CS knew abt it. Research more and you'll find out more.

I'm used to Rick Warren fans disagreeing with me. Why would I look into R12? Mark Driscoll holds absolutely no credence with me. IMO Mark D is apostate too. I think you mistake me. I'm not emergent not post modern or for making the body of Christ into consumerism then justifying it by works and ecumenical statements.

Agreed, there are errors in Calvary Chapel. Rick Warren's consumerism Christianity is not Christ like at all. He has a sort of Works Based Religion similar to Catholicism and he teaches against knowing and understanding the whole bible. I say that based on his teachings in Purpose Driven Life, which I did hear from his own mouth. I'm not pro Saddleback or pro Calvary Chapel. The fact that you can vacillate between the two isn't a good sign it's a sign of huge apostasy.

Unless a "style" is non-Biblical, one "style" of God's "church" shouldnt condem another "style". I was saddened to hear my friend from another Calvary Chapel tell me that his pastor told the congregation that Warren is into "Chislam". NOW, I'm there every Sunday and THAT is not the truth. Some Calvary people need to realize they are not without errors, and from this vantage point; "judgemental". Just because something doesn't sound "Calvary Chapelish" doesn't mean its not "Biblical".

Rick Warren is MY Pastor. Chuck Smith is awesome too. I actually go to Calvary Chapel at 8 am, and Saddleback at 11:15 am. For a while, I struggled at the difference in "styles" but soon realized its all about Jesus. Generally speaking, Calvary Chapels' "styles" are to read from Genesis to Revelation and they have coined that "the full council of God". Saddleback's "style" tends to have "seeker friendly" / "topical" messages with much scripture to illustrate the ideas being taught.
