Children living in La Chureca are at-risk for abuse, drugs, disease and prostitution. Forward Edge is working to provide hope to these children through a Village of Hope called Villa Esperanza. Pete Ferryman with KPTV 12 in Portland, Oregon traveled to Nicaragua in the fall of 2008 to put together a news segment on the plight of those living in La Chureca and the hope being provided. This is an excerpt from that news segment.

im doing an international architecture competition on with the focus on helping world issues. im choosing to bring awareness to la chureca. I want to use architecture in a way that it can reprogram/ reorganize this community in a way that the people can help themselves and give back to the community in some sort of recycling co-op. I am having trouble finding the exact location of la chuerca and any good stats. can you help me? where exactly is la chuerca besides Managua, Nicaragua?
