"what is truly revolutionary about this song is that it was composed as an audiovisual piece using TV footage as A/V samples. The actual news footage – both audio and video – of Kennedy’s murder was cut-up and re-edited into a piece in which, once you’ve seen and understood the piece, the audio cannot be separated from the video" Michael Heap (The History of VJ)
@YenRug - the original 7 inch was definitely given away with NME and not Record Mirror. I didn't have a copy but a good friend of mine did and I've never forgotten that it was the NME that gave it away. It's only since the digital revolution that I've managed to get my own 'copy'.
Very nice tribute to one of the best presidents, the First American Coupe de Etat. The ReichWingers grabbed power then, and we are still in their grip, especially when you see poor Obama struggling.
I first heard this from the April Winchell site. It was a goldmine of unusual songs, but now it's replaced by some Regretsy wtf picture shit...

pure classic. I've got this little bad boy on 7@ but it's a bit scratched.

@rangusr
That sounds like it could be it; I'm pretty sure it was around '89 when I was briefly stationed in London, which is well after the NME release.
