Two hours before his curiously awaited keynote speech at GCDC'08 we had the opportunity to interview David Perry, CCO of Acclaim Games. Of course we wanted to know beforehand what he will talk about at his presentation and so he gave us the chance to look a little bit behind the curtain.

First we heard that the future of gaming will be exciting as the number of people playing games is massively growing and there will be coming a lot of new things in the next years.

Then questioning him for some details of his keynote he first was joking that it's all top secret but then he told us anyhow: that Acclaim could help the community in order to integrate new features into games like multiplayer capabilities and what this means to different platforms.

Or what the impact is for the U.S. if in Japan a new gaming title shows up which is free of charge. But he also will talk about the changing PC market where more laptops being sold than desktops and what that means for different game categories. For instance for first person shooters which use the mouse heavily and how you can adopt this to laptops.

What we learned additionally: David is quite interested in Social Games where people can involve their friends in some way. So they launched a game on Facebook called „Price Potatoe" as a test drive in order to understand better how friends can link in and play together. Secondly David and his team work intensely on MMO gaming titles which will be for free. If you like them you can purchase different items within the game play. Quite smart, David!
