In the ferocious bushfires on Saturday 7 February, more than 170 people lost their lives and close to 2000 people lost their homes.
22,000 people registered with Red Cross to let everyone know they're okay and over 20,000 enquiries have been received from family and friends. More than 1000 Australian Red Cross people have been involved in the response.
The community spirit and response has been staggering. Over 500,000 people have donated to the appeal and over $300 million has been raised including pledges from corporate Australia and governments.
