Europe is complex. I don't think you can lump all of them together. They have formed the EU, but their systems are much more independant than the States here.
Just between Germany, France, and England you have three different health care systems, and Labor systems.

Is it me or does anyone feel , that New York seems to be the reason for all the taxpayer dollars going to increased anti-terrorism , anti-constitution policies ? It seems they keep screaming terrorism to keep tax payer dollars rolling into their city. How much money has rolled into New York because of this ?

And of course, the EU's #'s will be higher b/c even though they are vastly more "progressive" than our nation, they haven't had their progressives doing everything in their power to put as many people on welfare as they possibly can (see Cloward-Piven model) to "overload" the system to bring down Capitalism in their nations, their ppl are happy just working and staying at the median, but at least you'll find that MOST Europeans work.

ok, so now what's your point in trying to compare the US middle class to the EU middle class?
Are you going to seriously try to say that their middle class gets all the same benefits, opportunities that America's does?
There are more 1st generation millionnaires in the US then ANY other place in the entire world.
Opportunity for advancement BEYOND that has been damn near limitless in this nation, unlike EU nations that tax 60% + of their citizens money, which only hurts that chance

As Rachel Maddow has amply demonstrated - neither the President nor Secretary Clinton have shied away from the word "terror" as in "we're at war with terror."
