In the summer of 2011 I worked for Holland America/Princess Cruise Ship Line in Alaska. A seasonal job with employee housing. During that summer May though September I was able to video and photograph the Alaska railroad round trip between Anchorage and Fairbanks; Anchorage & Seward; and Anchorage & Whittier.
These are the digital pictures that I took.

  • @tmotorman Are you talking about the engine at 1:04? All these pictures were taken off of video camera tape. If you search my youtube account for "manifest talkeetna" you can see the video of the train at 1:04.

  • Hey Bud.

This unit #3009. Must be former SP? Can't see it from this angle but appears to be a GP40, yes?

  • @hoorider13 Thanks!!! They so need to make this route for the Train Simulator computer game.

  • Excellent collection of pictures! Love the unique train sets and Alaskan landscape!

  • @mafarnz Thanks!

  • Those 70MAC;s are nice, but I really like the GP40's and the ex Amtrak F40PH's (which I guess are just cab cars now, no prime motor or traction motors).
