wainuiboy74 far fewer Americans are protesting against the Iraq war because most of them are not directly affected by it, since there is no longer a military draft.
After Vietnam, wealthy Americans vowed never to allow their sons to be put in harm's way again. So they repealed the military draft and structured the political economy in such a manner that the only viable, legal career option available for its ambitious rural and urban poor is to join the 'all volunteer' Armed Forces.

rich kids that never got drafted in the war, and fonda followers. monkey see, monkey do. they never changed nothing, only costing tax payers money and disrespect our soldiers, families and our country. anti war protesters are traitors. my father was drafted in nam, he didn't asked to be there.

It's interesting to see how these peaceful citizens were viewed and treated by the media and the government. 40 some years later, we are doing a lot of business with the forgiving Vietnamese.

Some are, but the ones that go against the grain are labelled anti-democratic or anti-American. They are labelled as people opposed to freedom.
The truth is anyone who goes to war or advocates war is against freedom. Anyone who is willing to kill or advocate killing of any human life is spreading hate and violence.

there aren't that many people that still support it. The reason we don't see this type of stuff today is because of a difference in culture, the way we think. Free rights movements were just being implemented back then today we don't see it as a big change, kinda a been there dine that thing.
