At a time when ecosystems across the planet are in peril, a growing disconnect with nature continues. Still, many new projects and initiatives are gaining momentum and encouraging amateur scientists to collect and contribute valuable wildlife data. Harnessing the power of the web and the popularity of new mobile devices, it's now easier than ever to join the movement and play an active role in documenting and preserving our planet's biodiversity.

Ansari is a second year ITP grad student who studied molecular biology and bioinformatics as an undergrad at UC San Diego. From 2003- 2008 he worked in business development and product management in the wireless industry since 2003 (at companies like Qualcomm and NYC local start-up Peek). He holds several technology patents and used to raise poison dart frogs, australian bearded dragons, and a whole slew of other captive bred reptiles and amphibians. @projectnoah, http://www.networkedorganisms.com
