@thomasjad The whole idea of this algorithm is that it doesn't matter if the prime and integer get intercepted. It's a very useful algorithm in that you can set up an encryption using a key you generated from data (prime and integer) that doesn't need to be encrypted. How else would you want to set up a secure connection between, say, two network systems, if the network itself is open? ;)

why bother with time and processing power when you can break diffie hellman with an active man in the middle:P

Nothing is impossible and given enough time and processing power it may be possible to reveal the secrete key. But remember there are four numbers involved in this calculation of the secrete key. The Prime, the Integer and two secrete numbers (transmitter & receiver). Without the knowledge of the two secretes, you will need a lot of time and what amounts to supercomputing power to crack the key. Follow my example and use some larger numbers you will see how complex this problem becomes.
