Here's an idea: If they suck when you deep strike them, don't deep strike them

Your doing it wrong.

@GregBurke7759 ....and the reserve unit that comes in via the tunnel, stands still for a whole turn. It's the most useless rule the Trygon has. It only works if you need to hold an objective, and you create the tunnel right next to it. I understand your frustration with the big monsters, although I gotta say the auto Deep Strike of the Mawloc in turn 2 is pretty good. But indeed, it's random where he exactly lands. Fluff-wise he should always hit, and also not hit impassable terrain

shut up if you upgrade them they do allot of damage depending on what army your against so you know nothing your are obviously a rookie...............

The cover save thing is complete BS i will never agree to play with some one (who pulls out that stupid laser pointer) or who uses the actual position of the model to see if he gets a cover save ill always go by the base of the model cuz if the trygon is behind a hill that only covers half of his body whos to say he simply wont position himself to be mostly covered

I'm pretty new to tyranids but doesn't the Marlock 'Burrow' Rule alow you to deploy it, burrow it turn 1 and then auto deepstrike out on turn two. I assumed that the Marlock/Trygon was used as a hammer blow to the anvil of the swarm. Like Contain the enermy and then burst up forcing them to chose a target.
Cheers for the videos, looks like we have some good debate on this one =)

@GregBurke7759 that's unfortunate. I should be honest about my army, I focus pretty heavily on monstrous creatures, having 8 of them. It generally means only those weapons are reliable against me. It's not perfect, and to make up range I have to take zoanthropes, but I only have real trouble against eldar in falcons and wave serpents (particularly fire dragons), and Dark eldar with dark lances. I don't always win, but most of the time I come on top.

S4 power weapon? Good greif I havent heard of tau having any power weapons in the 4 years I've been playing them.

And if you deep strike them you should (at least on mawlock) eat verything you hit!!!!!!! STr6 and ap2 makes even terminators fall. I have seen Mawlock eat 6 terminator in one turn- After that next turn he burrows again ang next turn he dose same again.
it's a little odd you've never had a trygon get into combat more than once. I used to run a trygon and mawloc together, and while they almost always both got in combat, the trygon always killed more, so now I take 2. They've taken on terminators, lichguard, battlesuits, even a phantom titan (granted, with masses of luck on that one) and come out on top. I admit I'm lucky on scatters and reserves, but your luck seems unusually bad from your stories

you seem to hate half the nid codex anyways... Warhammer is a game of luck or els there wouldent be dice involved. Most games I play with 2 of them I get a lot of decent hits with the large blast + 6 wounds or 12 wounds between 2 with a 3 up save is prity tonk so they generaly able to atack the next turn then finish off (usualy!) the enamy unit in the enamys turn alowing u to re-submerge them in your turn. so always deploy not hold back then boom free deep strike and hope you scatter well! =)

@MrEvilc0d I Warhammer is not a game of luck, Sure its a part of it. It has to do with what army you play and what tactics you play by...compared to the Grey Knights, Blood Angels, Space marines and Nercons Book, allot of the nid units got shafted (ie the Carnifex) in order to promote sales of newer models (Trygons). In 6th edition I have a feeling that being a Monstrous creature will lend more abilities then just Killing tanks...or at least I hope

you like to QQ a lot in your videos I have noticed. A Mawlock you should never have to worry about your reserve roll because what you do is play him on turn one and then have him burrow and he comes up free turn 2. As far as the Trygon goes you can walk it but its main thing is to create a tunnel for other nids to come through then provide them support once they are through. NOTHING in the Nid list should ever solo anything, and everything in the book serves the hive in someway.

@nithia True but they cant use the tunnel the same turn......making it useless. so if your trygon comes in turn 2 (IF he comes in) you cant use the tunnel till turn 3 and thats if your reserves dont come in on turn 2 as well.
