Maybe they should more accurately call it "fishing for trout with a fly rod and a fly reel and a fly line and a trifecta of weighted subsurface flies on a short leader on waters that lend themselves to nontraditional fishing methods, which shall offend some."
I say that if you're not fishing upstream to a rising fish with a willow rod, cat gut and silk, you're a total sham. Now bring me my tea and a crumpet, or a scone if you must.

What an ignorant comment. There are so many dimensions to flyfishing...this is just another improvisational technique to most effectively fish certain types of water... 'semi traditional' ha...wow you really need to put labels on things, don't you?

Hello Steve, Is there anyway I could purchase Czech Nymphs? I live in Alaska so the only thing that has to do with nymphs are for steelhead. I'm very interested though.

@skorbay But I do not want the back end of the tippet to sink in a similar speed as the end of the tippet. It will only cause the leader to be caught by the different streams. Making the leader go in S-curves under the surface..
I prefer a non visible floting part and a really thin tippet in the end to make that sink quick down to the fish. Old South Swedish style among rocks and different riffles/strems between you and the fly... Youre not always able to walk close to the fish

1:58 Of relevant video does not need a 36 second intro.

you should teach these hacks to fly fish. no one is entitled to instant fish. try this on fall river or hat creek. for faster results i recommend the nobel nymph, 1/4 stick, 3 second fuse. ignite, toss, net the results and photograph with client, go home. no one need get wet or have do any of that troublesome casting, with it's knots and all. you and trout farms were made for each other.

This method works great for faster water. Flip..dredge...lift...(repeat)
No problem, I can tie any color, size and weight of Czech Nymphs you need or put together a kit with an assortment.

Hi Steve, can u tell me the benefit of using a non-tapered leader instead? This is a new technique to my knowledge and i was just curious. Thanks!

The non-tapered leader sinks much quicker because it does not have to pull down the heavy butt section. Also, since there is really no casting you do not need the tapered leader to turn over the fly like when using dries. Hope this helps,
Steve

as a semi traditional fly fisherman... in my opinion you might as well tie some mono to a stick.

Have you tried it? You might be surprised.
