@safetychoice In Prince Goerge, BC a group of 5 teens were going 200 km/hr down the highway when they caught air and proceeded to spin about 100 times. 4 of the teens were wearing seat belts but there wasn't one in the rear middle. The girl who was seated in that spot was torn apart and her body killed everyone else in the car.

That's right. Look at the whiplash on the dummy's heads. That is enough to break a child's neck. In addition, the lap belt would burst their intestines. The force of the belt on the child even at this low speed is around 30g, depending on the crush. The air bags would make very little difference. Notice the bags inflate before the impact!

I couldn' t watch the whole thing because I was about to throw up. Seatbelts have killed around 35,000 people in this country since l963 and never saved anybody. If you want to die in an accident, wear a seatbelt.

seat belts can breake ribs this spreads out the force to reduce that possibility.
