Teagan began exhibiting signs of what seemed to be stringhalt about 4 weeks ago. He was in pasture and we weren't doing anything with him at all, so we're not sure how long he may have had it before we actually saw it. After noticing it, we put him in a stall for a couple of weeks. The leg became worse and then, last week, it seemed to be also in the other hind leg. Now, as you can see, when he tries to trot, the back end seems to do a cross between canter and bunny hop, catapulting the rear up into the air. Teagan did not recover and it never got better. He was put down Fall 2010.

  • Hi, thanks for your comment concerning Teagan. I suppose I should have updated this video post sooner. We did determine that Teagan had stringhalt. It was a very bad case of stringhalt. The left leg did improve, but the right never did. We have since put him down.
