~Lyrics~

Flow my tears fall from your springs,
In exiled let me morne
Where nights black bird hir sad infamy sings,
There let me live forlorne.

Down vain light shine you no more,
No nights are dark enough for those
That in dispair their last fortunes deplore,
Light doth but shame disclose.

From the highest spire of contentment,
My fortune is thrown,
And fear, and fire, and pain
For my deserts, for my deserts, are all hopes since hope is gone.

Hark you shadows that in darkness dwell,
Learn to contemne light,
Happy, happy, that in hell
Feel not the worlds despite.

Never may my woes be relieved,
Since pity is fled,
And tears, and sighs, and groans
My weary days, my weary days of all joyes have deprived.

Happy, happy, faith that in hell
Feel not the worlds despite.

  • I have to perform this song for a vocal class I have and I was going out of my mind because im a novice to singing and this guy is the first artist that I have heard singing this song where I really understood the lyrics and melody. I love this intrepretation and although im performing this song in a classical style Moray's version will help me out when im practicing :-)

  • curious, interesting, even astonishing version of the song, very refreshing & innovative

  • Ha! Not the normal, but although I'm usually a bit 'old-fashioned', this version is SO MUCH more musical than Sting's feeble attempts at this music

  • I love this version <3

  • Kitschy. I don't think this does justice to Dowland's subtle composition.

  • I love it! This is my favorite Dowland song, and this is like Baz Luhrman's Shakespeare. So clear and modern. It just goes to show that a great song is a great song, and it has nothing to do with when it was written. Great job!

  • no no no ! all wrong.

  • Beautiful.

  • so very special!!

  • wow, this is freakin amazing
