At least four people were pronounced dead after consuming a local drink whose chemical composition was not immediately established. Ten other merrymakers went blind upon consuming the same drink. Police have now arrested three suspects as investigations get underway.

  • @siasabora it is believed that changaa that comes from western n this is something like Mututho am in good knowledge of, the cham that comes from western had some preservatives added to it to make it stronger. people used to say jet fuel. I know of dens in ungwaro where they used to sell this cham from western. since it was so much in demand, the local brewers would do everything possible to brew an even stronger cham n use methanol and that chemical they used in mortuaries

  • @loretta961 '....they are not after money only, they care for the lives also.....' really? how they do that give out changaa freely? and drive the drunks home? what else is new in those parts?

  • @K the commentator is suggesting western region is home of godly saints specialized in brewing illegal changaa and then give out freely. Pple can't discuss issues without segregating it along tribal or racists blocks.

  • @loretta961 let me tell you that one of the most leathal changaa i have ever tasted comes from western province. most of it is dropped off at Kangemi at dawn from Kakamenga-Nairobi bound buses.trust me i know.

  • @siasabora arresting them, taking them to court n jailing them is a waste of time and tax payers money. these guys drink cham because its cheap. some of them cant even afford to buy clothes let alone food, the 10, 20 bob they get, they head straight to the dens. I grew up with most of them, in fact some members of my own family have been changaa drinkers for years, some have died as a result n others are living in abject poverty. rehabilitation not punishment is all they need.

  • This pple should go to western province and shown how to prepare busaa and

changaa. You will never hear pple are dead of drinking busaa or cham in western province cause they know what they are doing, they are not after money only, they care for the lives also.

  • @K that said we should arrest the drinkers too...yu could go to jail attempting suicide? these fellows blind or not should be arraigned in court.

  • Those who drink this illicit brew are to blame as mucu as those who brew and sell and all should be arrested for providing support and distribution of illicit and controlled substances.

  • Wooiii Gikuyu giitu! Nitucokei kirinyaga njamba njithe niciguthira awa.

  • in my teen years in the 90s, I saw play grounds where young guys played football being grabbed and mansions being built. Also the number of places selling cheap brews like toivo, kumi, muratina, changaa increased. with no recreational facilities left young men turned to these dens and young women started prostituting. Untill the government starts thinking about the youth, we are witnessing a whole generation being whipped out by the drink.
