This is a radio controlled parkflyer-sized Piper Cub with an onboard video camera, flown on skis off a snow covered field in March of 2009. This aircraft is made by BP Hobbies as an ARF or almost ready to fly kit. This parkflyer-sized Cub is powered by a BP 21 brushless motor and a Dualsky 1300 mah 3S LiPo battery. Onboard video camera footage via Flycamone2 and ground video shot with Flip Video Mino. You will see takeoffs, rolls, inverted flight and a few landings, some not so perfect. ;-) But hey, flying off wet snow is not an easy task. I hope you enjoy this video, and thanks for watching!

  • Thats great, I want to get one of these Cubs. Although I have to admit the new Fiesler Storch looks good too. What sort of servos and ESC are you using?

  • I used a Thunderbird ESC with BEC, I think it is the 18A version. 4 Futaba 3101 micro servos, and Dualsky 1300mah 11.1v 25C batteries, with Futata 2.4ghz radio equipment. The only thing I would do differently in building is not to use the "stick mount" for the motor, but the extended firewall option that comes in the kit.

  • Thanks for the comment! I love this plane! I have flown it so much, it is an awesome little Cub! The construction is great, flies like a Cub for sure. You can fly it off low grass no problem, or baseball diamond. Slow flying is typical Cub style, and it goes fast too. Will climb straight vertical with the BP 21 motor and 3s 1300mah battery setup. Can't say enough good stuff about it.

  • could you use the skis on the e-flite apprentice

  • Cool video and cool plane. I've been considering getting one of these. The video with RCGroups review of it is a little poor because the cameraman can't keep the cam steady lol. Finally some good video. How do you like the plane?
